Lapis Lazuli in carved applewood pendant

Designed and carved by Dominic Koval
at the Well of Stars, Lake Elmore, Vermont

Lapis lazuli is traditionally associated with spirituality and the connection between heart and mind; in medieval paintings, the luminous blue of Mary's robe was often made from ground lapis.  Prized in Babylonia and ancient Egypt, it is a December birthstone, and the anniversary gem for the 7th and 9th years of marriage.
