Turquoise, prized by ancient Egyptians, Persians, Aztecs, Apaches and Zuni among others as wielding powerful metaphysical influences, is the traditional birthstone of those born in December and under the sign of Sagittarius. It is reputed to aid in the undertaking of new projects and to protect against environmental pollutants, and is the state gemstone of Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.
