Ancient Romans believed that moonstone shimmered because it was made from moonlight. It was said to arouse the tender passions and to open its wearer to sensitivity and intuition, and is one of the birthstones for June.  Lapis lazuli is traditionally associated with spirituality and the connection between heart and mind.. Prized in Babylonia and ancient Egypt, it is a December birthstone and the anniversary gem for the 7th and 9th years of marriage.
