Each of these one-of-a-kind, hand made pendants was designed and carved by Vermont sculptor Dominic Koval, using wood pruned from the apple trees growing at his home in Lake Elmore, Vermont. After careful drying, applewood becomes a light, strong and finely-grained medium, ideally suited for holding precise detail and possessing the natural warmth and intimacy of a living substance. In some pieces Dominic has used other media - oil paint, semi-precious stones, minute drawings - to enhance his creations, all work being executed by the artist himself. When not being worn, these miniature works of art may be handsomely displayed on a wall or small easel.
