Dragons are one of humankind’s earliest attempts to embody a search for truth and wisdom.
Born in the Orient, dragons in many varieties spread throughout the world. The aloofness and singleness of purpose
of Dragons shadowed the development of the Alchemists in their search for what has become known as the Philosopher’s Stone,
capable of transmuting base metals into gold. The Dragon represented humanity transformed by the search for truth. Dragons themselves
became base in the West, concentrated almost solely on the hoarding of gold. They became frightening symbols of greed and avarice,
the opposite of their lofty origins.

Each of these one-of-a-kind, hand made pendants was designed and carved by Dominic Koval,
using wood pruned from the apple trees at his home in Lake Elmore, Vermont. After careful drying, applewood becomes a light, strong and finely-grained medium, ideally suited for holding precise detail and possessing the natural warmth and intimacy of a living substance.
